Private Home, Holywood

This replacement home, built on one of Holywood’s original, historic streets, is situated within the Local Conservation Area. The street has retained an attractive suburban feel characterised by an enduring Victorian pattern with its balance between houses and front gardens along a hedge-lined street.

Our client was keen to build a contemporary but restrained home that complemented and respected the character of the street. We worked with high quality and crafted materials in stone and intricate joinery set in to simple rendered facades. Further detail and interest were added through timber-clad eaves and bespoke metal roof detailing.

We wanted to create a house that, at first glance, did not beg attention but on closer inspection revealed more interest. As with many RPP homes, the garden was designed as an integral aspect to the house, with main family living spaces organised around a private back garden with access through large full-opening sliding glass doors. Special effort was focused on achieving an entirely level relationship between the spaces inside and out.
