ECIT, Titanic Quarter

This project is an initiative to combine the Schools of Computer Science and Electrical and Electronic Engineering under one roof.

The aim is to promote new and dynamic research programmes ensuring a rich cross-fertilisation of ideas. The building is also designed to incubate spin-out and spin-in start up companies and encourage a new generation of high-tech engineers and entrepreneurs.

The final product must therefore provide a stimulating environment which will readily lend itself to the introduction of further new research programmes as the institute evolves. This is achieved by the creation of a modular laboratory environment with integration of services and structures to allow flexibility in future use.

The building is 4,000m2 on three floors, with a central core feeding off from a communal pod which contains seminar spaces, library, café, administration and special projects facilities.
